Attraction introduction

Huaqing Palace, which encompasses the Huaqing Pool Scenic Area and Mount Li National Forest Park, is celebrated as one of China's four great imperial gardens—alongside the Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan Park, and Chengde Mountain Resort. Recognized as a premier national 5A tourist attraction and protected heritage site, it served as a luxurious retreat for emperors across the Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang dynasties.

The palace is world-renowned for its ancient geothermal hot springs, the legendary romance between Emperor Xuanzong and Lady Yang Guifei, the ancient legend of the beacon fires, and as the historic site of the 1936 Xi'an Incident. Today, it stands as the ultimate destination for experiencing the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty imperial culture.

Within the palace grounds, you can explore iconic landmarks such as the Tang Imperial Hot Springs Relics Museum, the Xi'an Incident Memorial Hall (Wujian Hall), the stunning Nine Dragons and Furong Lakes, and the Tang Liyuan Ruins. Towering above the palace at 1,302 meters is Mount Li, dotted with historic sites like Laomu Hall, Laojun Hall, the ancient Beacon Tower, Bingjian Pavilion, and Shiweng Temple. If you visit in the evening, don't miss the "Sunset Glow over Mount Li," famously hailed as one of the "Eight Views of Guanzhong."

With its thousand-year-old hot springs, magnificent gardens, sacred pilgrimage sites, and the luxurious Huaqing Yutang Hotel, the palace offers an unforgettable experience. Be sure to catch the spectacular live performances, including the breathtaking signature show The Song of Everlasting Sorrow and the gripping historical drama 12·12. Rich in romance, history, and natural beauty, Huaqing Palace is an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Shaanxi.
